Studio Pia’s SS20 collection draws inspiration from the Greek deity, Aphrodite, Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation. Aphrodite is said to have been born off the coast of Cyprus, inspiring sea-themed embroideries and pearl accents, whilst paintings (such as ‘Pygmalion et Galatée’ by Anne-Louis Girodet) informed the whimsical colour palette. A collection sure to inspire amorous feelings!
Pia's inspiration moodboard pulls together coral, seaweed, and pearl imagery, and Goddess muses. This informed the silk colours and embroidery designs.
Pia sketches new embroidery designs by hand, before they are developed into the digital files, and finally stitched by machine to create a beautifully unique fabric. This embroidered fabric is then cut and sewn into the garments you see in our shop. This design was inspired by seaweed and was used to create the Sirena range.
It's all hands on deck on shoot day to ensure the hair, makeup and garments all look their best from the first shot to the last.
